The Children’s Studio
Private therapeutic art and yoga classes for children and adults
Meet Your Teacher!
Cherie Ashton fell in love with art when she was six years old and her Mom introduced her to watercolors. Around that same age, she began taking ballet, tap, and jazz dance classes in her hometown of Paradise, CA. Her love of dance continued into adulthood where she performed for seven years with two different American Tribal Style belly dancing troupes.
Cherie’s education includes an Associate of Arts degree from Sierra College, a Bachelor’s degree in psychology with an art minor from Sonoma State University, and a Master’s degree in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling from California State University, Sacramento. She is a certified children’s yoga instructor, and recently self-published her first children’s book. Cherie is certified in adult and pediatric first aid/CPR/AED from the American Red Cross.
Cherie’s journey with homeschooling began when her son Leo entered the fifth grade. The feelings of warmth, support, and encouragement from the homeschooling community have inspired her endeavors with The Children’s Studio.
When Cherie isn’t painting, dancing, or practicing yoga she can be found outdoors hiking, swimming, camping, or walking in fields of wildflowers with her children.
After years of working with children as a social worker, substitute teacher, children’s yoga instructor, children’s mentor coordinator, and art teacher, Cherie’s dream of opening up a studio for children in our community has come to life.
